OregonBILDS is developing a modest parcel of land in West Eugene over the span of six years or more. This site, in an existing residential neighborhood, was donated by Housing and Community Services Agency of Lane County (HACSA). There is a city bus stop a half block from the north edge, a city bike path at the southern edge, and an improved city street along the west edge. The first OregonBILDS house was constructed on the northernmost portion of the site, and each subsequent year a house is designed and constructed immediately to the south.
An early goal for the project will be to explore the cultural, ecological, and logistical opportunities and limitations found at the building site. The team will then integrate a livable and sustainable building into the existing context.
